John Hayter and Mark Odom formed Hayter & Odom, L.L.C. to utilize their nearly fifty years combined experience in construction law in a legal practice focused on matters involving the construction industry. Representing commercial and residential owners, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals and material suppliers, Hayter and Odom endeavor to provide the highest quality construction law services in this region. Whether a large contractor needs representation on a regular basis or a small owner has a one-time legal concern, they work hard to customize their representation to fit the particular needs and circumstances of each client.
John Hayter and Mark Odom are both native to Shreveport. John graduated from LSU Law School and his early practice focused on commercial litigation and general business law, in addition to construction law. He has been active in many community-building endeavors over the years. Mark Odom worked in the construction management industry for eight years before attending LSU Law School. He has applied that experience in his practice and as a member of the Panel of Arbitrators (Construction) of the American Arbitration Association.
Hayter and Odom have both been active in the Shreveport Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, each having served as chairman of its Advisory Council. They are members of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Surety and Construction Law Committee, the American Bar Association Forum Committee on Construction and the Northwest Louisiana Homebuilders Association.
John and Mark enjoy the practice of their unique niche in the law. In doing so, they are also providing an array of business related legal services to their clients as well as to those not in the construction industry.
